We derived an equivalent circuit for a figure-8 coil type permeance me
ter to analyze its LC resonance characteristics. The equivalent circui
t for the pickup coils was derived using the same techniques used for
thin-film inductors analysis. The driving sheets and twisted lead wire
s were modeled according to the theory of distributed constant network
s. We made permeance meters, measured the frequency characteristics of
the coils' impedances, and demonstrated the validity of the equivalen
t circuit used. We also discussed the LC resonance caused by the stray
capacitance between the pickup coils and the driving sheets.
