Abstract
In Gd/Fe multilayers, the crystallographic structure and the magnetic properties have been examined for various layer thicknesses, d(Fe) and d(Gd). The structure changes from crystalline to amorphous below 20,k of d(Fe) or d(Gd). In the amorphous region, the thickness dependence of the Curie temperature and the magnetization is explained consistent ly by the mean field theory.
