Abstract
The paper describes the situation of data collection and genetic evalu ation for the reproductive traits in cattle in Germany. In addition, p roblems of disease control and EC-legislation in the fields of AI and embryo transfer are being described Finally, the activities of the Ger man Cattle Breeders Federation (ADR) to enhance basic and advanced tra ining of the AI personnell are presented. Since more than 20 years the efforts of ADR to improve the reproductive performance in German catt le herds are strongly supported by Dr. Dr. h.c. R. Hahn, Neustadt a.d Aisch.
