Murine monoclonal antibodies have been developed from spleens of AKR m
ice hyperimmunised with the monoclonal antibody against TCR-Vbeta6. Tw
o new monoclonal antibodies called AL-12-3 and AL-32-7 were able to sp
ecifically block Mls(a)-induced but not MHC-induced mixed lymphocyte r
esponses in a dose-dependent manner. Both antibodies are mouse IgG3 la
mbda chain isotype and bind to Mls(a)-bearing lymphocytes from differe
nt strains of mice. The availability of such antibodies may well facil
itate future research aimed at immunochemical and molecular characteri
zation of Mls de terminants.
