Attempts of modelling mathematically the ultrafiltration process of so
luble emulsion paints have been presented. Analyses were carried out b
ased on data of ultrafiltration experiments performed with tubular pol
yacrylonitrile and poly(vinyl chloride) membranes at a paint concentra
tion of 10 %. The constants of the general dimensional mass transfer c
orrelation, as well as the general dependence of the volume permeate f
lux on ultrafiltration process parameters (i.e., transmembrane pressur
e and cross-flow velocity), have been determined.
