Potentiometric and spectroscopic studies of the binding ability of two
diastereoisomers of 1,4-diamino-2, 3-butanediol have shown that these
amino-alcohols form very stable and specific dimeric complexes with C
u(II) involving both amino nitrogen and hydroxyl oxygen atoms. Chirali
ty at the C(2), C(3) centres has a distinct influence on the stability
of complexes formed.
