Abstract
The effect of the flexibility of the foundation beam on the entire int eractive behaviour of a plane frame combined footing-soil mass system has been considered. The coupled finite-infinite element formulation h as been adopted for the physical representation of the system. Further more, the nonhomogeneity and the material non-linearity of the soil me dia have also been taken into account.
