Scheier et al. [P.Scheier, M. Lezius, N. Dunser, R. Robl, B. Schiestl
and T.D. Mark, Int. J. Mass Spectrom. lon Processes, 125 (1993) R17] c
ompared the ionisation cross section function obtained by them for the
electron impact ionisation of C60 with similar data reported by us ea
rlier. The agreement is good in the low and high energy regions. The p
eak they noticed in our curve is an experimental artifact. However, th
e structure of the curve in the energy range 15-35 eV is real and has
been confirmed by us through repeated measurements.
