Abstract
An existing numerical model of dendritic growth has been adapted to mo del the growth of twinned columnar dendrites (''feather crystals'') in a binary aluminium alloy. Examination of the effect of dendrite tip a ngle on growth has led to an hypothesis regarding the stability of a p ointed tip morphology in these crystals. Copyright (C) 1997 Acta Metal lurgica Inc.
