Cd. Martin et Na. Chandler, STRESS HETEROGENEITY AND GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURES, International journal of rock mechanics and mining sciences & geomechanics abstracts, 30(7), 1993, pp. 993-999
An extensive in situ stress characterization program was carried out a
t the Underground Research Laboratory. The results show that stress ma
gnitudes and orientations are significantly affected by geological str
uctures ranging in scale from a microcrack to a major thrust fault. Th
e variation in stress magnitudes and orientations can be explained usi
ng elastic theory.
