Histological lesions of the natural form of the Parvovirus infections
of the Muscovy duck, a new viral disease which broke out in 1989, were
described in detail. The disease was characterized by a subacute nevr
itis, a non suppurative poliencephalomyelitis, a fascicular degenerati
ve myopathy, a myocarditis and an interstitial hepatitis. The lesions
were concurrently observed in one or, more often, in several ducks of
the infected flock. The required conditions to improve the specificity
of the histological diagnosis are presented and the histological crit
erions of the differential diagnosis between Parvovirus and Reovirus i
nfections are emphazised.
