IMPROVEMENT OF ESTRUS SYNCHRONIZATION BEF ORE EMBRYO COLLECTION IN CATTLE WITH THE USE OF PRIDND

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the interest of the use of P RID in an embryo collection program, in cattle. 120 cows (Blonde d'Aqu itaine breed) were included in the trial: 41 of them received PRID dur ing the cycle preceding the superovulation treatment, 79 served as con trols. It has been shown that PRID has no detrimental effect on the qu antity and the quality of collected embryos. Furthermore, 85 p.cent of the treated cows exhibited oestrus in a 48 hours period. This point c ould be of interest in an embryo collection program, throught an easie r organization of the artificial inseminations and the collections.
