Abstract
The clinical and morphologic features of a pigmented squamous cell car cinoma of the alveolar ridge in an 81-year-old Japanese woman are repo rted. The tumor was typical, well-differentiated squamous cell carcino ma but had many melanin-containing cells within it. Electron microscop y showed melanosomes in macrophages, melanocytes, and neoplastic squam ous cells. Those in the neoplastic squamous cells seemed to have been excreted from the cytoplasmic processes of melanocytes.
