Av. Barzykin et M. Tachiya, GENERALIZED-MODEL FOR COLLISIONAL EXCHANGE OF SOLUBILIZED MOLECULES IN MICRODISPERSE SYSTEMS, Chemical physics letters, 216(3-6), 1993, pp. 575-578
The exchange of solubilized molecules in microdisperse systems is sugg
ested to occur through successive one-particle hops through fluctuatio
nal channels between the droplets during their collisions with tempora
ry merging. The overall transition probability is calculated as a func
tion of one parameter, namely, the product of the hopping frequency an
d the characteristic lifetime of the connecting channels. The model ap
plies to realistic sticky collisions between droplets that cover the w
hole range from one extreme case of complete randomization of their co
ntents (so-called fusion-fission) to the other extreme case of one-par
ticle hops. Only these two extreme cases have been treated in the lite
rature.
