PARAMETRIC RESONANCE IN A THIN DISC DYNAMO

The swing excitation or parametric resonance in dynamos is discussed. A simple example of the parametric resonance in a thin disc is conside red by the use of Wiener integral methods. The additional growth rate of bisymmetric mode being controlled by the disc aspect ratio is shown to be relatively small and insufficient to explain the preferable gen eration of this mode in galaxies.
