M. Kentouri et al., EXPERIMENTAL METHODOLOGY IN AQUACULTURE - MODIFICATION OF THE FEEDINGRATE OF THE GILTHEAD SEA BREAM SPARUS-AURATA AT A SELF-FEEDER AFTER WEIGHING, Aquaculture, 119(2-3), 1994, pp. 191-200
The daily feeding rate using a self-feeding method was studied in seve
ral groups of gilthead sea bream following weighing. The first day aft
er weighing all groups showed a significant decrease in feeding rate u
p to 66% in animals of 179 g. A partial compensation for this initial
intake deficiency was recorded during the next day. A fluctuating feed
ing rate with compensations occurring from one day to the next was als
o observed over the study period. The results are discussed on the bas
is of methodology and experimental consistency.
