Abstract
Forecasts of crude steel consumption for the UK during the 1990s are m ade using time series techniques. A detailed study of the time series properties of UK crude steel consumption is made. Using these techniqu es, this paper considers whether the UK is likely to experience a peak in steel consumption, equivalent in size to that which occurred at th e end of the 1980s.
