S. Ferreira et al., PHYSICOCHEMICAL STUDY OF PRESENCE OF FE2+ ION IN PYROCONSOLIDATED MAGNETITE PELLETS, Ironmaking & steelmaking, 20(6), 1993, pp. 482-484
During the pyroconsolidation of magnetite pellets, the mineral is almo
st fully oxidised in the early stages of the process. However, if the
heating temperature is increased, then the hematite thus obtained redi
ssociates into magnetite. The temperature at which this phenomenon occ
urs is dependent on the pellet composition and is significantly lower
than the thermodynamic temperature corresponding to pure magnetite. Th
is temperature depression is accounted for in physicochemical terms in
this work.
