Abstract
Recently Cazabat has explained the negative Kerr effect in water/Benzy l-Hexadecyl-Dimethyl ammonium Chloride (BHDC)/benzene microemulsions i n terms of a model proposed by Mayer. In this paper we present an alte rnative interpretation that has already been proven succesful in expla ining the Kerr effect of water/AOT/alkane microemulsions. Furthermore we report on experiments that we have performed on the benzene system to demonstrate the validity of our interpretation.
