K. Dhevendaran et al., BETA-GLUCOSIDASE ACTIVITY IN MICROCOCCUS SP FROM THE RETTING GROUND, Indian journal of marine sciences, 22(4), 1993, pp. 300-302
Water, sediment and husk samples collected from the retting ground of
Anchuthengu region, Kerala, for beta-glucosidase producing microorgani
sms showed wide variations. Screening of 12 bacterial strains for beta
-glucosidase activity and growth exhibited narrow ranges. Sodium chlor
ide, sodium sulfide and threonine were essential for growth and synthe
sis of beta-glucosidase.
