La. Tiktin et al., THE CONTENT OF CARCINOGENIC NITROSOCOMPOU NDS IN CHILDREN SOOTHERS AND NIPPLES MADE OF NATURAL LATEX, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 15(5), 1993, pp. 21-25
The content of carcinogenic volatile nitrozoamines (NA) and nitrozed c
omponents (NC) in various types of prevulcanized latex and in soother
and nipples made of it, as well as the effect of some means methods of
their processing on the level of the compounds mentioned have been st
udied. It is found that in the soothers of lot production made of late
x <<Revultex MR>> (<<Revertex>>, England) the content of carcinogens a
ccount for 216-855 mg/kg, exceeding 2.4 times at an average the intern
ational optimum permitted by regulations (10 mg/kg for NA and 200 mg/k
g for NC). It was established that the level of carcinogens in the soo
thers and nipples of lot reduction could be lowered by boiling in weak
sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride solutions or in water. The lev
el of nitrosocompounds in the latex of other types - <<LAIV-960>> <<LA
N-727BF>> (<<Revertex>>, England) was within the limits of permissible
rates mentioned above. It seems advisable to be guided by the interna
tional process regulation until home standards based on the maximum pe
rmissible concentration (MPC) of the level of carcinogenic nitrosocomp
ounds in children soothers are developed.
