Am. Dipietra et al., SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC AND CHROMATOGRAPHIC (HPLC) ANALYSIS OF HYDRALAZINE, DIHYDRALAZINE AND HYDRAZINE AFTER DERIVATIZATION WITH 2-NITROCINNAMALDEHYDE, Il Farmaco, 48(11), 1993, pp. 1555-1567
A simple colorimetric method, based on the reaction with 2-nitrocinnam
aldehyde, has been developed for the determination of hydralazine (lam
bda = 390 nm) and dihydralazine (lambda = 395 nm) in their dosage form
s. The method proved to be stability-indicating and provided results c
omparable to those obtained by a reference HPLC (cyano column) method.
Prechromatographic derivatization with 2-nitrocinnamaldehyde, in comb
ination with a preliminary solid-phase extraction (C-18 sorbent), enab
led sensitive and selective HPLC determinations of hydrazine in hydral
azine to be accomplished.
