The kinetic theory of dye formation was combined with existing models
of colour film noise to study the impact of coupler reactivity, concen
tration and equivalency on the spatial characteristics of model layers
, i.e. noise power spectra, density profiles and sizes of dye clouds a
nd dye modulation transfer functions. Good agreement was observed betw
een the theoretical calculations of these quantities and measurements
carried out on single layer colour films with monodisperse emulsions.
