R. Wu et al., INFLUENCE OF POSTWELD HEAT-TREATMENT ON CREEP-PROPERTIES OF 1CR-0.5MOWELDED-JOINTS, Materials science and technology, 9(9), 1993, pp. 773-780
The effect of postweld heat treatment on creep properties of manual me
tal arc welded joints of thick walled pipe of 1Cr-0.5 Mo steel has bee
n studied at 550-degrees-C. The creep properties were determined for p
arent and weld metal in addition to those for crossweld specimens with
controlled microstructures such as refined and coarse grained heat af
fected zones. Metallographical investigation of cavitation on ruptured
samples was also performed. A reduction in creep life and an increase
in ductility were observed, in comparison with the as welded conditio
n. A beneficial influence of grain refinement in the heat affected zon
e was observed giving a reduced number of creep cavities.
