Abstract
Epidemiologic data suggest that the etiology and pathogenesis of laryn geal carcinoma are influenced by environmental and lifestyle-related f actors, such as tobacco use, ethanol consumption, and exposure to toxi c substances. In addition, dietary factors, irradiation, papilloma vir us infection, and laryngopharyngeal reflux seem to be significant carc inogenic cofactors. This article presents a multifactorial model of la ryngeal mucosal carcinogenesis.
