Abstract
Very high dtmu molecular formation rates for epithermal (i.c., not the rmalized) muonic tritium atoms have been observed in experiments and a re predicted by theory. The present detailed analysis shows qualitativ e agreement although further calculations will be needed to reach a co mplete understanding of all processes involved. The importance of epit hermal effects for a correct description of muon-catalyzed fusion phen omena has been confirmed.
