Abstract
Magnesia samples from a variety of sources have been evaluated for the ir effectiveness as an alkali source during peroxide bleaching of radi ata pine TMP High and low purity samples gave the best bleaching respo nses. There do not appear to be simple correlations between purity of the magnesia samples, or pH of the bleaching medium and brightness gai n.
