Abstract
Calculated hysteresis loops and the angular dependence of coercivity f or coherent rotation and incoherent curling and fanning rotations in t hin film magnetic recording media modeled as a single-particle are pre sented with the effects of demagnetization fields (H-d) taken into acc ount by two methods. The true coercivity is obtained from measurements with a full correction for H-d. The apparent coercivity is obtained w hen a correction for H-d is made only in the direction of applied exte rnal field. However, the apparent coercivity is still useful for inves tigating the angular dependence of micromagnetization reversal mechani sms.
