G. Flemming, PRINCIPAL PROBLEMS IN REGARD TO CLIMATE I N FOREST SITE SCIENCE AND FOREST ECOLOGY, Forstwissenschaftliches Centralblatt, 112(6), 1993, pp. 370-375
A combination of the terms ''atmosphere and soil'' is better than ''cl
imate and soil''. Unfortunately, forest site science relates climate t
o woodless terrain, soil to forests. Methodically favourable is the di
stinction between ''basis climate'' (Basisklima, site without forest)
and ''state climate'' (Zustands-klima, site with forest). Weather stat
ions do not measure the basis climate. Furthermore, problems connected
with the selection of climatic elements, the measuring errors and the
fertility of climate are discussed.
