Abstract
In a demonstration of the advantages of charge-coupled device detector s in the undergraduate laboratory the Thompson and Wolf experiment on the effect of partial coherence on fringe visibility was repeated. Con firmation of the van Cittert-Zernike theorem to a few percent accuracy was attained.
