Ev. Alieva et al., SURFACE-POLARITONS AND PHONON-SPECTRUM OF SODIUM-CHLORATE CRYSTAL, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 64-5, 1993, pp. 733-738
Phonon spectrum of sodium chlorate (NaClO3) single crystal was studied
using Raman scattering, infrared reflectivity, surface polariton (SP)
dispersion and surface electromagnetic wave (SEW) measurements. Compl
ex dielectric function was obtained from reflectivity spectra using Lo
rentz oscillator fit and Kramers-Kronig analysis. Parameters of Lorent
z oscillators are in a good agreement with Raman measurements and with
SP dispersion obtained from ATR spectra. First time SEW measurements
on NaClO3-air interface were made in CO2 laser tuning region to obtain
complex dielectric function of NaClO3 in 10 mu m region. SEW propagat
ion length approaches 50 mu m at 967 cm(-1). Experimental values of SE
W effective refractive index and propagation length are in a good agre
ement with the data calculated using complex dielectric function obtai
ned from reflectivity.
