Experimental investigations were made of the generation parameters of
pulsed-periodic holmium lasers utilizing YAG and YSGG crystals doped w
ith Cr - Tm - Ho. It is shown that the YAG laser is more suitable for
achieving a higher pulse repetition frequency at a comparatively low p
ump energy. Several approaches are pointed out to extending the operat
ion range of repetition frequencies of holmium lasers utilizing scandi
um garnets.
