We apply the adiabatic approximation to investigate the short range in
teractions of relativistic self-dual Chern-Simons vortices. Unlike in
the Abelian Higgs model the result of the head-on collision of n vorti
ces is the backward scattering. As the initial velocity rises the scat
tering angle tends to pi/n. We also show the existence of the state in
which the n vortices are rotating around the center of mass. The pecu
liarities are due to the nonzero charge of the Chern-Simons vortices.
