Abstract
The electrical conductivity of solution grown thin films almost-equal- to 20 mum in thickness) of malachite green doped ethyl cellulose (EC), with MPM configuration, have been studied as a function of temperatur e and field ranging from 333-383 K; 3.0-5.5 x 10(4) V/cm, respectively . The current has been found to be strongly temperature dependent. The I-V characteristics of doped EC films have revealed two regions of co nduction. The region governing the high field conduction has been attr ibuted to the space charge limited current. The other mechanisms for n on-linear behaviour, e.g. field assisted injection or Poole-Frenkel co nduction are excluded by studying thickness dependence of currents in the SCLC region II. The increase in current due to doping has been att ributed to the formation of charge transfer complexes.
