Abstract
Phosphine oxides can be reduced by triethoxysilane, or more convenient ly polymethylhydrosiloxane, and catalytic titanium (IV) isopropoxide a nd provides a system for the efficient one-pot generation of phosphoni um salts; the reduction occurs with retention of configuration at phos phorus.
