R. Venugopalan et al., COUPLING OF LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE FLOWS IN THE HYDRODYNAMICS OFULTRARELATIVISTIC NUCLEAR COLLISIONS, Nuclear physics. A, 566, 1994, pp. 30000473-30000476
The space-time evolution of matter produced in high energy nuclear col
lisions is explored using a three dimensional hydrodynamic model. A si
gnificant coupling between longitudinal and transverse hydrodynamic fl
ows is observed. This coupling of flows may be used to infer the degre
e of stopping in heavy ion experiments. These results are illustrated
by qualitative fits to the CERN NA35 data for S+S collisions at 200 Ge
V/nucleon.
