Ta. Konovalova et al., ESR STUDIES OF NITROXYL RADICALS TEMPON AND M-DINITROBENZENE MOLECULES ADSORBED ON GAMMA-AL2O3, Reaction kinetics and catalysis letters, 51(1), 1993, pp. 81-86
The adsorption of nitroxyl radicals TEMPON and m-dinitrobenzene (m-DNB
) molecules on the donor and acceptor centers of gamma-Al2O3 has been
studied. It is shown that ESR spectra of adsorbed TEMPON radicals at 1
00-300 K could be accounted for by the slow motions of these radicals
(tau(corr)=1x10(-7) approximately 1.5x10(-8) s). The adsorption of m-d
initrobenzene on donor centers is accompanied by the appearance of rad
icals with similar ESR spectra. These particles are also assumed to be
stabilized on the surface as nitroxyl radicals. A mechanism for their
formation is suggested.
