Abstract
Two new isoflavones, erysenegalensein D, -(2'''-hydroxy-3'''-methylbut -3'''-enyl)isoflavone and erysenegalensein E, -(2'''-hydroxy-3'''-meth ylbut-3'''-enyl)isoflavone in addition to the known compounds, 8-preny l-luteone and 6,8-diprenylgenistein, have been isolated and characteri zed from the stem bark of the Cameroonian medicinal plant Erythrina se negalensis. structures were determined by the usual spectroscopic meth ods and by 2D NMR techniques.
