Abstract
A nonlinear self-consistent theory of superheterodyne two-stream FEL-a mplifiers was developed. These FELs are based on application as a work ing effect two-stream instability jointly with parametric interaction mechanism traditional for FEL. It was found out possible to develop FE L-amplifiers with amplification levels of approximately 20 - 30 db (by amplitude) in mm IR ranges at moderate requirements for REB (beam cur rent of 4 - 5 A, accelerating voltage of less than or equal to 1. MV). Predicted ace realization of the effect of generation of longitudinal electric field and its important role at the nonlinear stage of a sig nal amplifying process. It was shown that some other nonlinear effects can also be realized.
