Abstract
The properties of pulse propagation in a nonlinear fiber including neg ative fourth order dispersion added to anomalous second order dispersi on are analyzed numerically and analytically. An exact localized analy tical solution is presented, and using an approximate variational meth od, an entire family of stationary approximate solutions is also obtai ned. These solutions are found to be in excellent agreement with numer ical simulations.
