In the single-particle approach a partition of the excitation energy b
etween the reaction products in deep inelastic collisions of heavy ion
s are investigated. The role of the particle-hole excitations and the
nucleon exchange is considered. The ratio of the projectile excitation
energy to the total excitation energy for the reactions U-238 (1468 M
eV)+ 124Sn, U-238 (1398 MeV)+ Pd-110, Fe-56(505 MeV) + Ho-165, Ge-74 (
629 MeV) + Ho-165 and Ni-68(880 MeV) + Au-197 is calculated. The resul
ts of calculations are in good agreement with the experimental data.
