A continuous flow method for the construction of adsorption isotherms
has been developed. The method is semi-automated and has a computer-co
ntrolled data collection and storage process. The technique produces h
igh-accuracy isotherms based on several hundred data points. Results h
ave been produced for several mineral-pollutant systems. These have sh
own significant adsorption may occur even when using low-organic-carbo
n sorbents, the degree to which the adsorption occurs increasing with
decreasing sorbate solubility.
