Abstract
Some adatoms adsorb irreversibly on platinum single crystal surfaces. The adlayers can be characterized by electrochemical means, taking adv antage of the reversible surface redox reactions undergone by the adat om. The information available from irreversible adsorption experiments is compared with that provided by the underpotential deposition (UPD) technique.
