Abstract
The regioselectivity of the directed orthometalation of terrasubstitut ed aromatic N,N-diethylamides was found to depend of the ring substitu ents and of the base used A dramatic effect of the additive TMEDA to s -butyllithium has been observed which could be explained in terms of s teric bulk.
