Abstract
5-Phenylpent-4-ynyl cobaloxime, R(Co-III) reacts with the free radical precursors XY [X = CCl3, CCl2CN, PhQ, 2,4-(NO2)(2)C6H3-S, PhSe; Y = C l, Br, PhQ; Q = S, Se, Te] under thermal or photochemical conditions t o give the corresponding organic product RX or RY, depending on the pr ecursor. A non-chain radical mechanism is invoked to account for the p roduct distribution.
