The article deals with the non-selfadjoint eigenvalue problem arising
in the analysis of linear vibrations of coupled fluid-structure system
s when the fluid is described by its pressure field First the complete
ness of the eigenvectors is verified. Then a simple relationship betwe
en the eigenvectors of the original problem and those of the adjoint p
roblem is derived. To solve the eigenvalue problem a subspace iteratio
n procedure is presented. The results are also ex-tended to systems wi
th rigid body motions and constant pressure fields.
