We present numerical calculations of the peak temperatures experienced
by micrometeorites during atmospheric entry. Results are given for pa
rticle diameters between 2 and 50 mu m and for entry velocities betwee
n 10 and 25 km/s. A material density of 2 g/cm(3) and an entry angle o
f 45 degrees are used for the calculation, but the results presented h
ere tan be easily reinterpreted for other densities and for vertical e
ntry.
