The indenone derivatives are of interest as corrosion inhibitors for i
ron and steel; their molecules contain individual active centers which
lead to an increased adsorption of the molecules on the iron surface.
In earlier studies [1-3] we have investigated by means of impedance a
nd polarization methods the -adsorption behavior of some 2,3-diphenyli
ndenone derivatives and have confirmed their favorable inhibitor prope
rties in the corrosion of iron in acidic and neutral media. The object
ive of the present study was to compare the adsorption properties of i
ndenone derivatives - 3-p-dimethyl-amino-phenyl-2-phenylindenone (DMAP
IN) and of its quaternary salt (INQS) - 3-p-trimethylamino-2-phenyl-in
denonyl-ammonium iodide on iron in sulfuric acid media.
