Sd. Baranovskii et al., LONG-TIME BEHAVIOR OF THE DIFFUSION-CONTROLLED A-]0 REACTION WITH HOPPING ENERGY RELAXATION(B), The Journal of chemical physics, 106(8), 1997, pp. 3157-3158
The effect of hopping energy relaxation on the diffusion-limited react
ion A + B --> 0 is considered. The main effect of the relaxation is to
make the diffusion constant a decreasing function of time. We find th
at fluctuation effects radically alter the decay law predicted from th
e rate-equation approach, as is already known to be the case for diffu
sion in thermal equilibrium. New long-time behavior is predicted for t
he concentration of reacting particles as compared to the thermal equi
librium case. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
