Abstract
The authors demonstrate polarisation-insensitive bit switching of a 20 GHz signal pulse train over a large wavelength range of 29nm in a nonl inear optical loop mirror configuration employing a 500m loop fibre an d a polarisation maintaining EDFA. A high on/off extinction ratio exce eding 18dB and a signal/switching pulse walk-off of less than 13ps wer e measured.
